Every cat owner at least once wondered why his mustachioed pet tramples on him with such pleasure, sometimes even using his claws.

There are a lot of mysteries in the behavior and habits of cats. Many are sure that their purrs and misfortunes are taken away, and they bring happiness to the house. And the fact that tailed ones heal is generally an almost scientifically proven fact! 🙂

So, there are several answers to the question: why does a cat trample a person with its paws.

  • Some scientists believe that this behavior is associated with genetic memory. And they even came up with a special term to define it – “milk step”. As soon as they are born, kittens are already “trampling” on the mother cat’s belly so that she can produce milk faster. This period, so well-fed, warm and pleasant, remains forever in the memory of the animal. When an adult cat touches the owner’s paws, it is believed that she is incredibly good at these moments. And such behavior, and even accompanied by purring and even releasing claws, is evidence of the highest trust in a person.
  • Other experts are sure that cats trample the owner only during a period of nervous tension in order to calm down. Rhythmic pawing of the paws contributes to the release of endorphin, the hormone of joy, into the blood of the animal.
  • Another opinion why cats trample on the human body is related to their freedom-loving nature. While still wild animals, they already loved comfort. With special care they arranged a place to sleep for the night. The litter was made from leaves, moss, grass, carefully trampled down, achieving softness. So, if your cat is trampling on you, perhaps she just wants to sleep … And taking a nap on her back, stomach or on her beloved owner’s lap is both comfortable, warm, and safe. Isn’t this cat’s happiness?
  • And here is another version: a cat “marks” its human by trampling. The hypothesis is based on observations and research. Sweat glands are located on the pads of the paws. Trampling, the cat leaves its smell on the owner, thereby telling other animals: this person is already busy.
  • Perhaps active trampling is a sign of frisky hormones. And not far off – the marriage period. There are no other animals in the house, so only a person is the object of love. Well, you have to be patient or find a couple for the cat 🙂
  •  In response to scientific arguments, a folk sign says: tramples – it means it heals. Cat lovers unanimously declare: cats feel where it hurts. Think about it, if a mustachioed friend has been trampling in the same place for a long time, maybe you should see a doctor?
  • But the undeniable reason: the purr clearly shows strong feelings for the owner and requires a response.

Attentionaa ntị!

In no case should you offend the animal, throw it off yourself, scream or beat. If the cat’s behavior is unpleasant for you, just distract it with a game or a treat. And you can stroke and “purr” in response!

Do your cats trample on you? And what does that mean?
